DEL MAR SUNSET BALLOON RIDES

Our coastal flight offers a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and Coastal bluffs surrounding Del Mar. You will view the premier horse ranches located in Rancho Santa Fe, as well as the mountains bordering the Borrego desert to the east; on an especially clear day, you may see Coronado Island to the south. Champagne and sparkling cider will be served aloft or once you have landed. The Del Mar Coastal Balloon flight lasts from 40 minutes to one hour

What should I wear?

Recommended attire is casual outdoor active wear, and a jacket, sweatshirt or fleece pullover. Comfortable shoes are suggested (no high heels). Because the balloon burners radiate heat, we recommend that if you are over six feet tall that you wear a hat or a cap. In the cooler months you can bring some gloves to wear.

What can I Bring?

A camera! A video camera! It is recommended you leave all other personal possessions safely locked in your car.

What about bad weather?

Weather is obviously an important factor in ballooning. That is why we have “mandatory” phone calls prior to each flight, for that final “weather confirmation”. If we do have to cancel the flight because of weather conditions, of course, there is no charge to our passengers. We usually will be able to fly the following day, either Sunrise or Sunset Flights. It is highly recommended that you keep a couple of “optional” days in mind when making your balloon ride reservation, just in case there is a weather cancellation.

Will it be windy or cool?

Only comfortably cool. Unlike most areas of the country, the temperature in the balloon for the first 2000 feet is the same or slightly warmer. This is because the inversion of warm air that flows toward the coastal region from the California Desert. We recommend you bring a jacket or sweater.

How long will my adventure last?

From the time you leave your car until the time you return to your car, the time involved is usually three to three and a half hours. This includes driving you to the launch site in one of our Club Vans, watching the inflation of the balloon (perfect opportunity to use those cameras), the balloon ride itself, and having the celebration after landing. We also give you a “photo flight certificate” signed by your pilot that commemorates your ballooning adventure! And of course for our Sunrise Flight, you will also enjoy the breakfast at La Vindemia. Of course, we drive you back to the meeting location.

Breakfast - - what is included?

The most succulent fresh fruits, a variety of specialty muffins, imported cheeses, Champagne Mimosas, Sparking Cider, orange juice and piping hot coffee and hot chocolate!

What is La Vindemia?

La Vindemiais where we meet to begin you adventure! It is an exclusive private vineyard nestled in the middle of Temecula Wine Country. We are very fortunate to have such a lovelyItalian setting for our meeting location and to enjoy our Champagne/Sparking Cider Celebration at the end of the Sunrise Flight with a hosted gourmet pastry breakfast. What a perfect conclusion to a very unique experience!

How many people will fit and are there any size or weight restrictions?

That depends on the number of reservations we have for that ride. We have a variety of colorful balloons, the smallest accommodates six to eight passengers, and the largest accommodates fourteen passengers! All of our baskets are large, European design, and partitioned to give each passenger maximum comfort and visibility.

What will we see?

For the morning Sunrise Temecula flight, everything Wine Country has to offer! South Coast Resort, Ponte Winery, the vineyards of Temecula, snow capped mountains, citrus groves……and much, much more!

For the evening Sunset/Mountain Ride, the country estates of Rancho Santa Fe, citrus groves, and with the weather cooperating, incredible ocean views at sunset.

Why so early or late ??

Temecula
Because of the wind variances, we can only fly over Temecula Wine Country in the early morning. It would not be safe to fly later in the day, when the winds could become problematic.

Del Mar
It’s those pesky winds again! Only this time it’s just the opposite, there are less wind variances in the evening hours. And, come to think of it, it’s pretty incredible to have ocean views at Sunset!

How high will we go?

When you are aloft in the balloon you will be around fifteen hundred feet above the earth, and that’s what makes those views so fantastic!

How far will we travel?

The average distance that you will travel in the balloon is three to seven miles, depending on winds.

What if I have motion sickness?

There is no turbulence sway or keel in a hot air balloon. However, if you are especially sensitive to motion, medication should be effective.

Can I steer?

A balloon moves with the wind, at the same speed and in the same direction. So no you can not steer in the traditional sense however “steering” is done by ascending or descending into the wind “layers” to move your course from one heading or direction to another heading maybe to the right or left based on the winds available on a giving day.

Hot Air Balloon PASSENGER ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT WITH CALIFORNIA DREAMIN

NOTICE: By signing this Agreement, you are releasing and waiving your rights to make a claim for bodily injuries or property damages against DAVID LEE BRADLEY PRODUCTIONS, INC. d/b/a CALIFORNIA DREAMIN (collectively “CALIFORNIA DREAMIN”), its advertisers, employees, its suppliers, its vendors, its agents, its promoters, its independent contractors, its sponsors and others as set forth below in connection with your voluntary participation in hot air balloon flights and associated activities, including without limitation balloon inflation, launch, flight, landing and travel to and from the launch and landing sites. In consideration for being allowed to participate and/or have a minor child participate in a hot air balloon flight and associated activities provided by CALIFORNIA DREAMIN, I hereby acknowledge and agree as follows:

1. Assumption of Risks. Participation in hot air balloon flights is voluntary. I acknowledge that I have voluntarily applied to participate in a hot air balloon flight and associated activities to be conducted by CALIFORNIA DREAMIN. I understand that hot air balloon flights are a potentially hazardous activity and that serious accidents occasionally occur during hot air balloon flights, associated travel, preparations and recovery due to known and unanticipated risks. Some of the risks and dangers that exist which are inherent in all travel and balloon flights include, but are not limited to, loss of personal property, arrest for trespassing or other violations of the law, bodily injury or death due to capsize of the basket, or other vehicle, collision with obstacles on the ground or in the air, accident or illness in remote places without medical facilities, immersion in water and hypothermia, falling from the balloon/basket while in the air or on the ground, equipment failure, malfunction or misuse, accidental drowning, trauma, fire, smoke or flame exposure, temperature extremes or inclement weather, including exposure to sun, wind, cold, storms and lightening. I understand and acknowledge that the above list of risks is not complete or exhaustive. I am voluntarily participating in all of these activities with the knowledge of the danger involved. I hereby agree to accept and assume any and all risks of injury, damage or death to myself, to others, to any participating minor child of mine or to my property which arise from my participation of my minor child’s participation in the referenced activities.

2. Release. I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators and assigns, hereby voluntarily release and discharge CALIFORNIA DREAMIN, its independent contractors, agents, employees, advertisers, vendors, suppliers, officers, directors, shareholders, associates, subcontractors and all other persons or entities associated with it (hereinafter collectively “the released parties”) from all liability, claims, demands, actions or causes of action for bodily injury, death illness, disease or damage to myself, to any participating minor child of mine, or to my property which are related to, arise out of, or are in any way connected with participation in the above referenced activities, including but not limited to those arising from negligent or careless acts of omission or breach of contract by the released parties or defects in the equipment used. This release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by California law, and if any portion thereof is held invalid, I agree that the balance shall continue in full force and effect.

 

3. Medical Statement. I certify that I have no physical or mental defect/condition which prevents me from participation in a balloon ride and related activities.

4. Rules. I agree to follow all rules and instructions of the released parties while participating in the balloon activities.

5. Attorneys’ Fees. If any of the released parties is required to incur attorneys’ fees and costs to enforce this agreement against me, I agree to indemnify and hold them harmless from all such fees and costs.

6. Capacity. I further certify that I am 18 years of age or older or have the consent of parent or guardian.

I acknowledge and agree that by signing this document, I am giving up my right to sue the released parties for any damages or injuries I suffer or any minor child of mine suffers while participating in the above referenced activities, even if the released parties negligently cause said damages or injuries. I have read and understand this entire document. It is effective and binding upon me, my heirs, assigns, personal representatives, estate, and any minor child of mine who is participating in these activities.
